Torque Measurement with an HBM T40B Digital Torque Meter

How to use the D107 for frequency measurement to collect data from the HBM T40B torque meter with a 100µs resolution.

About the sensor

  • 30 - 90 kHz frequency output
  • 33.3 - 11.1µs periods

Frequency measurement using the Cronos method

Configuration parameters:
  • Tbase: time during the rising edges are counted (configuration parameter)
  • NrOfSamples: number of counted edges during the time Tbase.
  • T_measured: time between the first and the last detected edge during the time Tbase.
The frequency gets calculated after this time-span f = NrOfSamples / T_measured. The measured frequency is scaled every 10µs to get the sample rate 100 kS/s.

Configuration of the D107 input channel

  • frequency
  • differential input
  • Tbase = 70E-6
  • oversampling:
    • 10 kHz
    • 10 sample
  • new result needed every 100µs
  • 70µs + 10µs < 100µs → Each result should be a new one.
