How to Reset Your Controller to Factory Defaults

In some situations, it may be necessary to reset your controller to its factory default settings, for example when the controller is malfunctioning or cannot be restored to normal operation through standard troubleshooting procedures.

Resetting the controller to its factory default can be done with an auto-run script that will automatically execute when a USB drive is plugged into a controller. 

Resetting your console to its factory default erases all controller configuration settings. Please make sure to save the latest configuration settings on your PC. After resetting the controller the configuration settings stored on the PC can be written again to the controller.

Performing a factory reet using a USB drive

  1. Take an empty USB drive and format it to FAT32.

  2. Copy the autorun.sh script to the root directory of a USB drive. The script can be found in the following locations: C:\Users\Public\Documents\Gantner Instruments\GI.bench\additionals\Scripts\Controller\FactoryReset\
  3. With the controller powered on and running, insert the USB drive into the controller.
  4. Wait for the controller to restart and for the LED states to change. If there is no visible indication, wait at least 5 minutes before proceeding.
  5. Remove the USB drive from the controller.

Verify that the factory reset was completed

  1. Connect the USB drive to a PC.
  2. Check whether the autorun.sh file extension has changed from .sh to .xxx. If the extension has not changed, the script was not executed.
  3. Check that the USB drive contains .txx files and a directory named config.
  4. Create a ZIP archive containing the complete contents of the USB drive.
  5. Send the ZIP archive to your local technical support representative for further verification.

Reconfigure the controller

After a successful factory reset, the controller must be reconfigured:

  1. Open Device Manager in GI.bench and scan for the controller. After the factory reset, the controller will use its default IP address.

  2. Configure the controller with the required IP address and network settings.

  3. If the controller configuration was previously saved as a GI.bench project, open the project in GI.bench.

  4. Write the saved configuration back to the controller.
